Members Rules and Regulations

Article 1: Name

The name of the organization shall be Bangladesh Travel Writers Association (BDTWA).


Article 2: Objectives

The objectives of the Association are:

  1. To promote travel literature, travel journalism, and tourism-related research.
  2. To encourage responsible, sustainable, and environmentally friendly tourism.
  3. To create a professional platform for travel writers, photographers, researchers, bloggers, and content creators.
  4. To strengthen national and international cultural exchange and tourism cooperation.
  5. To support creative and research-based travel content production.
  6. To preserve cultural heritage and promote Bangladesh through travel storytelling.

Article 3: Membership Categories

The Association shall have the following categories of membership:

  • Life Member
  • General Member
  • Executive Member
  • Student Member

Article 4: Eligibility for Membership

Membership is open to individuals involved in or interested in:

  • Travel writing
  • Travel journalism
  • Travel photography
  • Videography and filmmaking
  • Blogging and digital content creation
  • Tourism research
  • Cultural documentation
  • Travel-related design and media work
  • Tourism and travel studies
  • Students interested in travel, tourism, and culture

Article 5: Membership Application

Applicants shall:

  1. Complete the official membership application form.
  2. Submit a copy of National ID Card or Passport.
  3. Provide samples or links to creative or professional work.
  4. Obtain recommendations from two Life Members of the Association.
  5. Receive approval from the authorized membership committee or Executive Committee.
  6. Pay the applicable membership fee.

Article 6: Rights and Privileges of Members

Members shall enjoy the following rights:

  • Participation in Association activities and programs.
  • Access to workshops, seminars, and training programs.
  • Eligibility to contribute to publications and projects.
  • Official membership identity card and certificate.
  • Professional networking opportunities.
  • Priority consideration for publications, events, and collaborative projects.
  • Access to member benefits approved by the Association.

Article 7: Duties and Responsibilities of Members

Every member shall:

  1. Uphold the dignity and reputation of the Association.
  2. Follow the Constitution, rules, and decisions of the Association.
  3. Respect local cultures, traditions, religions, and communities while traveling.
  4. Promote responsible and sustainable tourism practices.
  5. Encourage ethical travel writing and content creation.
  6. Maintain professional conduct with fellow members and the public.

Article 8: Professional Ethics

Members shall:

  • Respect copyright and intellectual property rights.
  • Avoid plagiarism or unauthorized use of others’ work.
  • Refrain from publishing false, misleading, or harmful information.
  • Avoid unethical financial benefits or misleading promotional activities.
  • Present travel experiences honestly and responsibly.
  • Maintain the highest standards of integrity in travel writing, photography, journalism, and content creation.

Article 9: Meetings and Participation

  1. Members are encouraged to participate in meetings, workshops, festivals, and other organizational activities.
  2. The Association shall organize regular meetings and events.
  3. The Executive Committee may call special meetings whenever necessary.
  4. Members are expected to cooperate in the successful implementation of organizational activities.

Article 10: Misconduct

The following actions shall be considered misconduct:

  • Damaging the reputation of the Association.
  • Providing false information during membership application.
  • Financial irregularities or misconduct.
  • Harassment or disrespectful behavior toward members.
  • Hate speech, discrimination, or offensive conduct.
  • Violation of copyright or intellectual property rights.
  • Activities contrary to the objectives of the Association.

Article 11: Disciplinary Measures

If a member violates these rules, the Executive Committee may take the following actions:

  1. Verbal warning.
  2. Written warning.
  3. Temporary suspension of membership.
  4. Permanent cancellation of membership.

The concerned member shall have the opportunity to explain his or her position before any final disciplinary action is taken.


Article 12: Publications and Creative Works

  1. Members are encouraged to submit original travel writings and creative works.
  2. Editorial decisions regarding publications shall be final.
  3. Authors shall retain the copyright of their work unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  4. The Association reserves the right to publish, archive, and promote approved submissions.

Article 13: Amendments

These Rules and Regulations may be amended by the Executive Committee or by approval at a General Meeting of the Association.


Declaration

All members of Bangladesh Travel Writers Association (BDTWA) agree to abide by these Rules and Regulations and shall work collectively to promote travel literature, responsible tourism, cultural exchange, and creative excellence.
